To help high school student-athletes with academic eligibility through personalized mentorship with a goal of boosting their academic performance, confidence and communication with their teachers and coaches. "No Student Athlete left behind" - SRU Founder, Luke Dulek
As part of the SRU process, one of our SRU educators, who we refer to as trainers, will assist the student athlete on their journey back to better grades and academic confidence, helping them stay on the field. Our SRU Trainers are highly vetted and trained to ensure student athletes feel comfortable and have a successful learning experience.
Let's face it, many high school student athletes would rather hear constructive advice from Patrick Mahomes or Simone Biles rather than a parent or teacher. Enter, SRU's Meet and Greet session. As the ladder part of our process, each student athlete will have the chance for a one on one meet and greet with a local collegiate or professional athlete where they will learn first hand how important school is.
A qualified Sports Rescue Captain will meet with the student-athlete in-person at the school for an initial assessment to build rapport, explain the SRU program and assess where the SA (student athlete) is having challenges academically. SRU will then follow up with the appropriate teachers to collaborate on assignments the SA can accomplish to meet proper grade qualifications
Next a Trainer (educator) will be assigned to the student-athlete where the Trainer will meet with the SA in-person on school grounds for two tutor/learning sessions. A log of process will be kept and updated throughout the sessions and the Trainers notes will be shared with the appropriate teachers and coaches.
The 3rd Quarter is all about the student athlete's one on one Meet and Greet with a collegiate or professional athlete with the goal of inspiring the student athlete and perhaps giving the SA a future role-model. It is our goal at this point for the SA to be eligible again, practicing and playing in games as well.
In football, when its' the 4th quarter, the entire team will stick four fingers in the air to remind everyone this is "dig deep and play hard." The same mentality goes for SRU's 4th quarter. The assigned SRU Captain will set up a "huddle" meeting with the SA, the athletic director, the coach, and the parent(s). This is where all the SA's

"If an athlete is academically ineligible and your code of conduct allows return, the athlete may return on the 16th scheduled school day if two or more F's (p. 36, V-2-A-1) or when your code of conduct allows if less than two F's"
